Thomas Hobbes
(Personal Background) - Born: April 5, 1588 in Westport, Wiltshire, Died: December 4, 1679 in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, Education: Attended Hertford College(Oxford) from 1603 to 1608
(Political Beliefs and Work)- Hobbes concern was how people could live together in peace. He believes that we should oblige by one ruler who is designated all power. He Hobbes thought that this would "scare" people so much that it would force them to not want to do wrong.
(Major Significance)- Obviously his political views were a major significance. Hobbes also wrote the book "Leviathan." He names his book this because like the Leviathan from the new testament he thought that a ruler and the Leviathan correlated. He though that no one could bring down a ruler in charge of everything and everyone. Also no could take down the Leviathan just as he thought no one could bring down the ruler.

John Locke
(Personal Background)- Born: August 29, 1632 in Wrington, United Kingdom, Died: October 28, 1704 in High Laver, United Kingdom, Education: Westminster School, Christ Church, & Oxford
(Political Beliefs and work)- English philosopher and political theorist. Locke studied medicine at Oxford with other in training scientists between 1652 -1667. Locke met Lord Ashley, who later became known as Earl Shaftsbury. They became close and Locke become his personal physician. Later Locke became his secretary of presentations.
(Major Significance)- Locke had a lot to do with the idea and contributions to the making of Liberalism, also did most of the beginning work for the enlightenment in the 1600s.

(Personal Background)- Born: January 18, 1689 in La Brede, Died: February 10, 1755 in Paris France, Education: College of Juilly 1700-1711
(Political Beliefs and work)- French philosopher and lawyer, major work was The Spirit of Laws. He lived throughout the Age of Enlightenment. He is mostly famous for his theory of "Separation of Powers."
(Major Significance)- His most influential work is how he dived the French society into 3 classes. Those being monarchy, aristocracy, and the commons.
